Signpost Core Service

This is the original Signpost Service. Set up in Jan 2002 and has just completed its first service tender. Currently funded until March 2008, the core service claims to be the most transparent service in Forth Valley.

Positive outcomes

In addition to local authority and Sat monitoring and evaluation returns the service was externally evaluated in 2004 with an extremely positive outcome.

Referral and assessment

While the main work remit of the core service is referral and assessment workers are also engaged in relapse prevention and trained in acudetox. The team also has a broad knowledge base on many non medical interventions and have completed courses in Para-suicide and mental health first aid.

First contact for successfull treatment

For many substance users in Forth Valley, Signpost Core Service is the first contact in the path towards treatment.

The staff work from satellite bases across Forth Valley and on any given day a Signpost Drop-in will be open. For times and the nearest to you call the Signpost number.

Advice from experienced staff

Staff also have awareness of all types of drug use, the effects and the consequences on the individual and family. Signpost staff are more than willing to give advice on any aspect of drug use, even if it is about someone else, a friend or family member.

For advice call the signpost number and ask to speak to a project worker or alternatively call in at one of our drop-ins. As with all operations at Signpost your call will be treated in the utmost confidence.

While signpost encourages self-referral we will also accept referrals from family members, professionals and other agencies however we would insist that the persons consent is secured prior to referral.

The service will, where requested, work in partnership with other agencies. An appointment for assessment will be received within 4 working days of referral.

Referrals can be made in person, by phone or electronic mail. Referrals are also encouraged from Criminal Justice and Children and Families.

All staff are fully trained and aware of Child Protection Procedures and Legislation.
