Website launched

Website launched to support drug and problem alcohol users and their families.

Access into treatment services since 2002

Signpost was started in 2002 to provide advice and information to substance users and ease access into treatment services. Signpost offers informal appointments and drop-ins to anyone living in, or registered with a GP in the Forth Valley area.

While the bulk of enquiries are from drug users themselves, friends and families are also invited to seek advice from Signpost. All enquiries are treated with the utmost discretion and there is no pressure to act on the advice given.

Trained and experienced support workers

If an enquirer decides they want a service from Signpost they will be assessed and allocated a worker from our highly trained bank of project staff. All staff are trained in person centred techniques and will look at what options and services are currently available.

Once again the decision on options is entirely up to the individual and they can withdraw from the service at anytime. There is no penalty for this and the individual can return to the service at anytime.

Drop-in centres throughout Forth Valley

Signpost runs a number of drop-ins across Forth Valley that can be accessed in complete confidentiality. No names are required to access information or advice.

In some cases full equipment exchange can be provided on demand. Where this is not possible alternative informal arrangements can be made.

Contact the Signpost number and ask for Harm Reduction Services for up-to-date information regarding this service.

Joint working relationships for referrals

Referrals are welcome from other professional bodies and joint and partnership working can be arranged. Once again only with the full consent of the individual.

Signpost has links and protocols with all drug services in Forth Valley as well as community groups and non-drug specific services such as housing and other statutory services.

Signpost provides information and advice on other agencies outside of Forth Valley and where necessary will advocate on behalf of an individual.

Signpost also has a list of clinics and treatments available in the private sector.

The Signpost Promise

Signpost promises to provide an appointment for assessment within 4 working days of first contact. SignPost treats all information confidentially and will contact no other body or organisation without full discussion with client first.
